    • TECHNOLOGY AND LAW ARE TWO SEPARATE WORLDS.

      WE LIVE IN BOTH.

Patent attorneys are more than specialized attorneys at law. Each and every one of us has a full university degree in a technical or mathematical/scientific field. This is what it takes to be able to assess and manage the technical aspects of inventions quickly and accurately.

In addition, our legal education gives us in-depth expertise in the areas of patent, trademark and design law. It is this combination of science and law that allows us to protect our clients' interests to the best possible extent.

    • Austrian patent attorneys are bound by the high standards of the Austrian Chamber of Patent Attorneys and must pass the federal patent attorney exam. Clients can be sure that all federally certified patent attorneys have thorough knowledge in the following areas:

      • Austrian legal provisions regarding patent law, integrated circuit layout design protection, trademark law, design law and patent attorney law as well as intergovernmental contract law.
      • Provisions of Austrian competition law and provisions in this area applicable in other major legislations
      • Austrian legal provisions regarding constitutional law, administrative law, civil law, commercial law and law of civil procedure
      • For supervisory purposes, codes of professional conduct apply as well as strict disciplinary law and the disciplinary power of the Chamber of Patent Attorney and the competent ministry.

To register as a European Patent Attorney, candidates must pass a European qualifying examination administered by the European Patent Office. This test presupposes thorough knowledge of European patent law, the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), the Paris Convention, decisions by the boards of appeal of the EPO as well as national law, to the extent that it is applicable to European patent registrations and patents.

    • CLEAR LANGUAGE

Issues relating to industrial property law can be complex and multi-layered. When applying for patents, not only legal aspects must be taken into account, but usually also highly complex technical questions. Since not everybody is familiar with the specialized language spoken in patent and trademark law or even legal jargon in general, we strive to use straightforward language when talking to our clients. We go to great lengths to explain the issues at hand in an easy-to-understand manner.

      RESULTS

One of our top priorities is achieving the best possible results for the cases entrusted to us by our clients. As a general rule, for any case we take on, we always take into consideration our clients' business environment when choosing the legal avenue we want to pursue.

      PROTECTION

Our number one priority is protecting our clients' intellectual property rights. At our office, we always rely on the dual control principle for all activities, both for subject-matter work and formalities. For highly critical issues, such as monitoring deadlines and annual fee payments, we have introduced multiple security mechanisms that combine computer-based monitoring with manual registration and control of all deadlines.

      CONFIDENTIALITY

We are well aware of the fact that personal trust is paramount in the interaction between a patent attorney and you as a client. It goes without saying that we will handle all information you provide with utmost confidentiality. Professional ethics commit us patent attorneys to strict confidentiality. For example, we can refuse to declare as witnesses in civil courts and before administrative authorities if the interests of our clients are at stake.

      THOROUGHNESS

We commit to work conscientiously on all mandates entrusted to us and to protect our clients' interests. We do so with great enthusiasm and loyalty towards our clients. We have the authority of immediately presenting everything we believe to be helpful for our clients and to use attack and defense measures to the extent that they are not contrary to our power of attorney, our conscience, and the law.
